Ancestry

Ancestries are the different fantasy species of intelligent Humanoids. Ancestries are split into two components: game mechanics and lore. GMs may change the lore to suit the campaign.

Mechanics

Players can choose one of the following mechanical bonuses for their ancestry:

  1. Nonmagical (Default)
  2. Ancient
  3. Aquatic
  4. Avian
  5. Hardy
  6. Keen

Ancestry Abilities

Ancestries only confer physiological benefits. Any knowledge or skills that belonging to a specific culture might grant you is handled by the Background mechanic.

The People of Mithrinia

The world of Mithrinia has the following ancestries.

Common

  1. Humans

Uncommon

  1. Orcs
  2. Elves
  3. Dwarves
  4. Lizardfolk

Rare

  1. Birdfolk
  2. Catfolk
  3. Rabbitfolk
  4. Smallfolk

To choose a random ancestry, roll a d6. On a 1-3 you are the Common ancestry. On a 4 or 5, roll a d4 for an Uncommon ancestry. On a 6, roll a d4 for a Rare ancestry.

Languages

Virtually all people in the Mithrinian Empire speak at least a basic level of common.

There are many Languages that have developed across ancestries.
